Nudist Vacations, Shed Your Inhibitions

Nudist vacations are hardly the stuff of an unconventional lifestyle when you realize that an astonishing percentage of the public has already engaged in what they, themselves, consider nudist activities, whether it was nude sunbathing,
nude sailing,
taking a trip to a
nude beach
in
Florida,
California, Southern Europe, Eastern Australia or skinny dipping at a friend’s house.
With this fact in mind, the rising popularity of
nude vacations,
and
clothing optional vacations
either at a
resort,
beach,
camp,
colony
or on a
cruise ship,
is not surprising. The organized nudist or
naturist
movements reject the notion that nudism is always sexual or at worst pornographic and wrong.
Nowadays there are vacations of all sorts. There are staycations where you never go too far from home. There is medical tourism, eco-tourism and business travel combined with some sightseeing. There are guycations for golf or gambling. There are girlfriend getaways to spas and historical, culinary and cultural trips. And now, there are nakations, a term invented by the American Association for Nude Recreation, which are just what they sound like: vacations during which you wear no clothes.

So Just What Do Nudists or Naturists Believe?
Nudism and
naturism
are interchangeable terms and are based on a cultural philosophy defending social nudity in private or public. This belief system recognizes the inherent dignity of the human body in any size, shape, or at any age, thus advocating self-respect and respect of others. Clothes are seen as materialistic impediments to equality and to knowing the real person underneath.
Because we have grown up putting on clothing every day, the first time most people remove their clothes in front of strangers can be a very unsettling, stressful moment. They may fear being ogled. They may fear that everyone else’s body will look better than theirs.
Most practicing nudists say you cannot consider yourself one of them until you have been unclothed around others outside of your home that otherwise your “au naturel” activities have been of the unorganized variety.
Where Are the Most Popular Nudist Resorts and Clubs?
Known as either naturist or
nudist resorts
, these vacation spots are located in most of the United States, in such far-flung locales as Thailand, Mexico, New Zealand, South America, and Indonesia, and in some 25 European countries. Most adhere to the guidelines, screening procedures and etiquette of the International Naturist Federation (INF), the Naturist Society (TNS), or the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) and will tolerate no leering, ogling or solicitation of sex.
And at many
beaches
and resorts,
clothing is optional
for those who might get cold feet at the last minute and decide they do not want to undress after all, but those who never disrobe might be viewed as voyeurs. Activities during a
clothing-optional travel
and
nudist travel
at a resort offer recreation like arts and crafts, golfing and hiking.
Nudist vacations and
nude travel
are not for everyone, of course. But you might be pleasantly surprised to try one and really like shedding your inhibitions along with your clothes and getting to know people at the most human level, where all of us are created equal.
